nestor Seal for Trustworthy Digital Archives
The extended self-assessment process for digital archives developed and offered by nestor on the basis of the DIN 31644 standard “Criteria for trustworthy digital archives” offers digital archives a harmonised and practical method of checking whether they are trustworthy. If the reviewed assessment yields a positive result they are entitled to publicise this by using the nestor Seal for Trustworthy Digital Archives. A fee of 500 € applies. The nestor seal can be obtained as a standalone solution. In 2010, the three initiatives of DIN, ISO and the Data Seal of Approval agreed to incorporate their approaches into a European certification procedure. Accordingly, the nestor seal leads to the acquisition of "extended certification". However, these approaches were no longer pursued after the initial declaration of intent.
