This guideline (only available in German) sets forth a process with which archives can consolidate their positions, coordinate them with others in the German-speaking archive world (and also with subsequent target groups), and put them on record as a common standpoint.
Classic archives are facing numerous challenges as the result of radical changes in the field of information technology. Most of these problems affect groups of archives rather than individual institutions. Cooperation is therefore key when dealing with these tasks. However, there are only a few ways in which archives can bundle and express their interests. The nestor standard for archives offers a process with which archives can consolidate their positions, coordinate them with others in the German-speaking archive world (and also with subsequent target groups), and put them on record as a common standpoint. Once the process is complete, the nestor archive standard will be adopted as a key requirement coordinated by and for the German archive world.
The nestor archive standards working group is still in the formation phase.
