The network of expertise in long-term storage of digital resources nestor entertains a German language toolbox which lists software that is deemed useful for the preservation of digital objects. It views itself as an addition to the leading tool registry COPTR (Community Owned digital Preservation Tool Registry).
The connection between nestor’s toolbox and COPTR was lately enforced through an initiative of the State Archives of Baden-Württemberg supported by the nestor office at the German National Library: In April 2020 COPTR received about 30 new entries via addition from nestor’s toolbox. As a result COPTR comprises now about 500 entries. In addition numerous links were placed in nestor’s toolbox to the more detailed entries in COPTR. nestor’s toolbox encompasses almost 100 entries.
In future the connection between both registries will be maintained and extended. nestor sees itself as a partner to COPTR and is listed as such on COPTR’s website since May 2020.
